Party Room Reopening: Exclusive Use Bookings

Dear Neighbours,


As cliche as it sounds to say that it has been a challenging time for all, it really has - and the Board thoroughly acknowledges the sacrifices that our Residents have made. The issues haven’t been limited to major ones, but also about how you’ve been able (or rather, unable) to enjoy your extended home at Emerald City One.


Some changes that we’ve faced as a result of COVID-19 measures include (but are not limited to):

  • Being limited to 2 people per elevator.

  • Not being able to enjoy the use of amenities such as: the Party Room and Terrace, Fitness Facilities, and Pool.

  • Having to change interactions and access to Security and the Management Office.

  • Not being permitted to loiter and socialize in the common elements.

We know that these are unpleasant challenges, and appreciate that it was not an easy experience for anyone to go through. Moreover, we are extremely grateful for the cooperation and understanding of our Residents, who have really come together during these circumstances.


We would like to introduce some good news at this point...


The Party Room is ready to be reopened for exclusive-use bookings, and we are actively looking at what our next steps are to safely reopen the remaining amenities!!!


Furthermore, we are re-extending of offer of FREE PARTY ROOM BOOKINGS to all Residents! (more information below)


Some important information on Party Room bookings:

  • All bookings will have to follow the appropriate gathering limitations (at time of publishing, Toronto is still in Phase 2, and there is no confirmed date for entering Phase 3).

  • Despite the policy that all parties must have a guard hired (this was put in effect following multiple complaints and guard requests from Residents surrounding the Party Room, who were regularly disturbed by noise), we will make exceptions for gatherings that occur during Phase 2 as they are limited to 10 people. For Phase 2 gatherings, the Concierge will remotely monitor the event using the cameras, and will perform periodic checks of the Party Room to ensure all is ok.

  • Bookings paperwork COVID-19 related liability waiver to sign.

  • Cleanings will include the additional sterilization using a “fog gun”, which we will upload more information about shortly. There will be no additional fees for the cleaning using the fog gun (standard cleaning fees will still apply).

  • Unfortunately, due to the extensive cleaning required for COVID-19 sanitization, we are unable to open the room for Non-Exclusive bookings at this time; however, we will be discussing how to safely do so as soon as possible (along with other amenities)!

  • In order to facilitate thorough cleanings, we have removed the small decor items from the Party Room and stored them away for the time being.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank one of our wonderful Residents, Emi, for emailing us to ask if we would consider extending the “Free Bookings” offer for the Party Room that we had made when planning the original Grand Opening. We love hearing everyone’s suggestions and are always open to feedback, which is why we immediately discussed Emi’s suggestion and agreed to implement it.


We originally promised about 10 weeks (March 6 to May 17) worth of free bookings when we originally planned to re-open back in March. We will now be offering the same approximate 10 week timeline of free bookings, starting immediately, and lasting until the end of September 2020. Cleaning fees will still apply, as will guard fees (when/if applicable). Only one free booking per suite, please! To get your free booking, please mention this blog post to Property Management.


We hope that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the Party Room by safely gathering with their friends and family - and we look forward to your feedback in regards to what you think of the new and improved Party Room!

As a “teaser”, our next goal is looking into how we can safely reopen and regulate the non-exclusive use of the BBQ and terrace area, followed by the rest of the amenities!
